During the week of July 17, 1955, Walt Disney’s new theme park, named “Disneyland,” opened to the public in Anaheim, California. The 17th, a Sunday, was intended to be an “international press preview,” limited to selected invitees who could ride the attractions, witness the parades, and take part in the televised dedication of the park. However, many counterfeit invitations were distributed, and more than 20,000 eager guests showed up, overwhelming many areas of the 160-acre park. The official public opening came the next day, July 18, and within several weeks, Disney reported that more than 1 million people had visited the site. Here, a look back at the opening days of Disneyland in 1955.
A detailed account of every second of the Apollo 11 descent and landing. The video combines data from the onboard computer for altitude and pitch angle, 16mm film that was shot throughout the descent at 6 frames per second. The audio recording is from two sources. The air/ground transmissions are on the left stereo channel and the mission control flight director loop is on the right channel. Subtitles are included to aid comprehension. This is part of the Apollo Flight Journal, Apollo 11 collection.
When Apollo 11 landed two men on the Moon and returned them safely to Earth, thousands of people at NASA were joined in the effort by dozens of companies that did everything from building the spacecraft to providing the cameras for the mission. Each of those companies was understandably proud of their involvement and wanted to use the mission to drum up interest in their products and services. Marketing strategist David Meerman Scott has been collecting the press kits produced by the Apollo contractors and has made them available online for free download in PDF format.

Thriller has been muted to due it being blocked in 242 countries because of it, also this video is blocked in Germany. I uploaded this video because it seemed that my favourite concert of the HIStory tour was not uploaded properly in this way and in the source quality. Alexyz Jackson uploaded this up scaled and with the incorrect aspect ratio in parts and livemjhighdefinition uploaded the non hd tv version of this video. Also, this video did not render properly, it´s a little slow, so I will most likely upload another video of this as well. Thanks for watching! Like, comment, and subscribe! Also, keep moonwalking!

All spring I chase storms across the United States to collect footage of supercells, lightning, tornadoes and whatever I might find. Generally I don´t release any time-lapse clips from those chases until I put out my final end of season compilation film. But last night in North Dakota was too unreal to let sit on my hard drive for months.
We were chasing northeast of Bismarck, North Dakota and as storms were dying out, we decided to go for a lone cell on the backside of a line of storms. We knew it had a hail core on it and we were hoping that we might get some nice sunset color at least on the storm as it moved past us, and hopefully some lightning bolts. But we had no idea what we were about to encounter. The clouds were taking on a very different, curvy, wave-like appearance and suddenly we knew what we were seeing.
Undulatus asperatus clouds are a rare phenomenon and actually the newest named cloud type in over 60 years. I´ve seen tons of photos of them, but never anything like what we witnessed last night. We had a storm with hail in front of us and flashing lightning which was fantastic. But then we had this layer of undulatus clouds flowing across our view. Watching them was amazing already, but then the sun slowly appeared from behind some clouds to the west and lit up our storm like nothing we´ve ever seen before. We were like kids in a candy store. Running around, doing our best to capture it from every possible angle.
I did two time-lapses...one on the right side with a 50mm and then a wide angle with the 11mm. The colors here are real. I only increased the contrast. In fact, I was thinking of actually REDUCING the saturation because of how intense the colors looked with the contrast added. But that´s how it was and I left it that way. Six of us were there and all our photo and videos look the same.
This was undoubtedly one of the most incredible scenes I´ve witnessed chasing storms for the past 8 years.

The Godfather of Soul makes an appearance on the old "Late Night with David Letterman" on July 12, 1982. This is the best TV performance I´ve ever seen. I´ve never seen a TV audience respond like this. Paul Shaffer and the fellas proved they really were The World´s Most Dangerous Band this night!
In an age of countless computer-generated box office hits coming out of Pixar, Disney and Dreamworks, many had feared that traditional styles of animation like stop motion would become obsolete. But small studios like LAIKA have proven that stop motion animated films are not only commercially viable, but is an art form that’s still evolving, thanks to 3D printing, and some incredibly talented animators. Films like the recently released "Kubo and the Two Strings" show how 3D printing is enabling animators to push the boundaries of stop motion animation.

CNN reports that psychic businesses are thriving in this challenging economy, and the clientele has expanded to include more business professionals who are worried about their financial future.
According to Columbia Business School’s Professor Gita Johar, who studies consumer behavior, the greatest motivation for visiting a psychic is to feel a sense of control.
Sure, there are lots of things we can’t control: businesses may fold, stocks may plummet, relationships may end—the list is infinite, really. But wouldn’t we be far more effective if we focused on all things we can control instead; if we stopped worrying about the indefinite and started benefiting from the guaranteed?
