Floppy Disks

Samples from my many hundreds of 5 1/4" floppy disks. You'll note that some are notched twice so both sides can be used.

This Apple diskette uses both sides, a feature not commonly used commercially since most diskettes weren't certified for use on both sides. You can see the label on the back of the disk:

Novelty diskettes like these were popular for a while because they added some flair to the otherwise bland world of matte black diskettes:

Boxes

Disks usually came in boxes of 10 that looked like this:

Labels, Tabs and Other Tchotchkes

Labels usually came in several colors like red, green, blue, black and yellow. Here are some assorted labels:

These tabs are for covering the notch to write-protect the disk. They usually came in black or silver, and for some reason they came in a variety of sizes even though the notch was always the same size. Some brands stuck better than others.
