The only two cars that even look close to being similar are the smart cars.

Anonymous said...

They look the same... until you see them after a front-offset collision.

Nice :) I could say only one thing more then a half stuff are made in China... So its nothing special :D Some fake ones are even better then orginals :D :D :D

Anonymous said...

Imitation is the best compliments

Anonymous said...

I actually prefer the Zonda to the other R.V.

Japanese car industry did the same thing in first. Now - look where they are!

Anonymous said...

It's obvious these are just coincidences of similar designs. There's only so many possible car designs in the world!

Which of the chinese car companies do you work for? LOL! The Mercedes and Smart copies, in particular, are brazen examples.

Anonymous said...

Actually - these are cars made by the original manufacturers, but because of Chinese trade laws, they have to manufacture them under a special In-China brand.

What a greast example of fair trade. NOT!

seriously? haha, I hope you are not dumb enough to believe that lie! Is that the story they feed the Chinese? If it was a licensed product it would be *identical!* not, oh, kinda looks like it, and has a copied logo. Gawd, the Chinese propaganda-machine is slow these days, huh?

Frankly, I like the Hongqi HQD better than the Rolls. I reckon I'd like the price a *lot* better. Plus the marque sounds like "Honky" which amuses me.

The difference is the Chinese car folds up like an accordion in an accident. Its all part of China's population reduction program.

this is what happens when cheaper is more important than quality. And cheaper takes away you're job and gives it away to the cheapest labour market. Enjoy cheaper

Some time i like Chine to...
I's very cheep.

Sad thing is the Chinese will probably be selling their cars here in the USA within 5-10 years. Blame it on us Americans; we crave the shit. We can't live without it.

Anonymous said...

Japan finally gets what it deserves.. Yes Japan you deserve this

I hope everyone has been saving their money because this is going to be a rough ride. These are NOT the first products that the Chinese have totally copied.

We have let China get away with breaking patents and now its going to come back and bite us in the butts.

I am American. I drive American. What are you?

Thank Wal-Mart for letting China into the game. It's important for countries to block imports of Chinese made autos, or the rest of the world's auto manufacturers will be just like Detroit. What next? Ferrari? Lamorghini?

Never accuse the Chinese of having an original thought. Why bother when you can just steal someone else's?

It's a shame that we could not convince the Chinese to simply copy the Ford Maverick or the Chevette. That would trash their auto industry in six months...

Anonymous said...

Yea its almost as if other companies didn't start off by copying a competitors product almost identically. Ridiculous car companies. What you mostly fail to realize anyway is that these end up being sold to the lower end market. The market which doesn't care about the brand name. The middle and upper class markets will still by brand name for the social value that it holds not just the design.

the landwind knockof was not even allowed in europe because it was more dangerous than an old fiat 500 in a head on collision. 0 stars in NCAP tests.

The counterfeit Smart cars are actual Smart cars, theyre just the mark 1 versions

Anonymous said...

Hope you're not riding those cars to your world domination, otherwise is gonna be a short trip.

"You scumbags are just envious that we gonna take over by reverse engineering. You copied printing and gunpowder from us and what goes round comes round."

I think we can both agree that there *IS* a patent for the design of cars yet there is NO patent for the use of a printing press.

I will admit defeat if you show me the patent holding document on printing.

Here's some info about gunpowder:

Read and weep, you ignorant...well..single.

"Instead it has been argued that, like the wheel, gunpowder was "coinvented" or "co-discovered" prior to, simultaneously or slightly after the Chinese, by cultures separated from the Chinese by vast distances, with minimal direct contact between one another"

Learn your own history. kkthxbye.

Sooner or later the East is going to win against the West (if it hasn't already) in sheer manufacturing prowess. The trouble is that the West has (foolishly) eschewed good ol' fashioned manufacturing in deference to a service oriented economy (e.g. shifting money from one place to another, corporate ass kissing, and bowing and scaping), which basically has neither foundation nor substance and which could crumble from the slightest shake. The Chinese work hard, long hours for peanuts, just to fill the void left by our laziness.

Eventually they're going to get wise, get some good designers, pay their workers well, and the world will become theirs (I guess until the point where *they* become fat and lazy, and give their dirty manufacturing jobs to some other less fortunate economy). I've definitely seen an increase in the quality of Chinese goods, and I would guess this will continue.

Well, I can buy a full fledged metal utility trailer (that I have to assemble) for about $300 from Harbor Freight / China, complete with tires, lighting, etc. Yet scamming, rip-off car manufacturers charge me $300 for one plastic, cheap to make tail light lens. I realize labor is cheaper there, but really, $300 for a fricking lens. These overpricing, scamming jerks are getting what they deserve.

China doesn't hide the fact that they copy everything, with the intent of not having to import. They want to control everything within their borders. They are inviting Western technology in, but will not allow those Western businesses to take profits out. It's a one-way street. What happens when the Western labor gets very cheap? Will China import? No. They will rule the world. Western businessmen and politicians have sold out the west.

Recently I learned that China can do anythings,(as long as it's already been done.)there's a Paris in China. Mini Eiffle Tower and all; except unlike the real Paris people are squating and washing clothes in fountains and just squating period.

USA is investing all its money in training, building industries and competence sharing in a totalitarian, communistic, dictatorship.. Which goals are clearly stated to be world dominance... :-) Good luck USA:

Landwind actually bought the license for the Vauxhall/Opel Frontera, so that doesn't really belong into this list.
and about chinese people not having original thoughts: how about paper, gunpowder, modern navigation, etc? there are quite a lot of things modern society uses with its origin in (ancient) china. but true, today, especially in the automible industry, they tend to steal designs

TG said...

Ah, China... *sighs

Just something to note, Geely bought Volvo.

madballoonz said...

What, no copies of American cars? Why's that?

Anonymous said...

Its because American cars are junk. The Chinese ones are probably as good as a GM, Ford, or Dodge. Mind you that still make them junk too.

Anonymous said...

Which models come with slaves?

Anonymous said...

So whats the problem

If you buy a VW a seat, skoda, bently, etc they are all built with the same rubbish anyway most of which was made in china in the first place.

No-one is going to accidentally buy one of the chinese cars by mistake.

If Western cars are better then they will continue to sell well
Once chinese cars get good enough they will sell well.

Copying or licensing some old designs is no big deal its how things go.

Western manufacturers dont have to fear chinese cars looking similar - they need to fear that they will soon be very capable and cheap

Anonymous said...

A lot of them just look like each other but don't look like they're copies. Seriously, how many unique sedan designs can you come up with before it starts looking outlandish from today's expectations?

I'd say it's the logos that look like copies, but then, look at Honda and Hyundai's logos, and seeing that Hyundai is a respected car brand in the west nowadays, there isn't a problem. The Chinese makes cheap copies of a lot of stuff, but not in cars. The electronics scene is a lot worse.

Lastly, the reason they even decided to make these is because they're different enough to not get sued for patent infringement. Patent laws are much more specific than most people think.

Anonymous said...

Yes... patent laws specifically don't apply in china...

wtf is this? said...

who gives now-a-days?
everyone copies one another and it's no one but us, the consumer's fault in wanting cheap goods. eventually china will become the new euro-jap-america country, and we'll be the ones doing the cheap labor for them.
i hope i die before then.

Anonymous said...

Is "China Made" real cheap? Maybe it was, but the tide is certainly changing.
Personally speaking, I think the way China is developing now is much better than many western countries "accumulated" their first bucket of gold by evading others' land.

Anonymous said...

people still want to follow the great imitator's foot steps?

hid lights kits creating a given beam sample can be created smaller than halogen headlamps producing a comparable beam sample. Alternatively, the bigger size could be retained, in which case the xenon headlamp can create a much more robust beam pattern.

Ron said...

This is a direct result of manufacturing being outsourced to China to sell products cheaper. In America we used to make things; now companies send the plans and materials off to China where manufacturing companies are owned by the CA government and intellectual property is not stolen, it's given. You want to stop this? Stop buying Made in China.

i agree with your point of view. we should take action in necessary steps

The only reason Chinese, conterfeit from U.S.A
because they've inhaled so much lead paint
poison which have caused them to cheat, lie
and steal. They don't have an original
creative mind. They should be on the book
of records for being "CHINA, THE WORLDS MOST CONTERFEITERS"!!
