Two satellite images provided by NASA and taken on July 28 and Aug. 5, show the Petermann Glacier in Northern Greenland. A giant ice island, seen in image at right, has broken off the Petermann Glacier. A University of Delaware researcher says the floating ice sheet covers 100 square miles (260 sq. kilometres) – more than four times the size of Manhattan

The makers of an unusual street sweeper are hoping to clean up after a Chinese city adopted their design.  The strange invention consists of a lorry that has a wheel of brooms attached to its rear end. As the lorry slowly drives down the streets of Tunhe, Xinjiang province, the wheel rotates, causing each of the 10 brooms to sweep the road. The lorry sweeper brushes rubbish to the side of the road where human cleaners pick it up
